NPO.AFRICA has partnered with SHAMWARI TRUST and HOLDING HANDS Non-Profit organisations:
- GWERU GENERAL HOSPITAL: There is a serious shortage of protective wear such as masks and gloves. Health workers on the frontline fighting Covid 19 are risking their lives but having to reuse single use resources like surgical masks. As of 17 April 2020, there was only one trained covid response staff member.

Who needs help? Health workers risking their lives for others and dealing with daily potential exposure to COVID19 and other contagious diseases without personal protective wear such as masks and gloves.
What help can we give? Surgical Masks, Medical Respirators, Face Shields, Sanitizer, Gloves, Disposable Coveralls and Cloth Masks for lower risk scenarios and daily travel to and from work. You can also contribute towards logistics and admin such as transported the donated goods to the required locations.
Controls in Place: An auditable dispensary system is in place and dispensary records are available for viewing by donors. Supplies received and supplies distributed will be recorded.
JINGAMVURA RURAL PRIMARY SCHOOL: Needs to resources to address the COVID threat and allow children writing national exams this year to return to school while protecting them from infection. There is no running water and only blair toilets at the school premises.
Who do we need to help? Initial Focus: 76 grade 7 students preparing for exams, 13 staff members.
What do we need to help with? Sanitizer, ‘Tippy Tap Stations‘ for washing hands, Soap, Cloth masks, Face Shields, Stationery, Food that can be easily cooked and distributed at school. (Majority of students live far below the poverty line), Volunteers to build Tippy Taps from everyday materials like sticks. The school could also use funding to improve available learning areas. It is difficult to implement social distancing when there is already a shortage of classrooms and furniture.Controls in place: A dispensary register will be maintained and available for any donor to inspect if required. The register will have a record of supplies received and who they were distributed to, when and why. Donors will also be given access to the school if requested.
